What is Noorani Qaida?
Noorani Qaida is a short, step-by-step primer that teaches the Arabic alphabet and the rules of reading before a student moves on to the Quran itself. Each lesson builds on the last: single letters, then joined letters, then short vowels, tanween, sukoon, shaddah and long vowels (madd). Because the book is so carefully ordered, it is the most widely used starting point for children around the world.
What your child will learn
- All 29 Arabic letters and how to pronounce each one from the correct point of the mouth and throat (makharij).
- Joining letters in their beginning, middle and end forms.
- Harakat: fatha, kasra and damma, then tanween, sukoon and shaddah.
- Madd (long vowels) and the first, simple tajweed rules.
- Reading real words from the Quran with confidence, so the move to the Mushaf feels natural.
How our Noorani Qaida classes work
Every class is live and one to one. Your child shares a screen with the teacher, reads aloud and is corrected on the spot, word by word. Lessons are 30 minutes, which is the right length for young children to stay focused. For ages 4 to 6 we keep lessons playful and short, with plenty of repetition and praise.
After each lesson the teacher notes what was covered and what to practise. Parents receive a short monthly report, and you are always welcome to sit in on any class.
How long does Noorani Qaida take?
Most children finish Noorani Qaida in 3 to 6 months with two or three classes a week and a few minutes of daily practice at home. Younger children, or students with fewer classes per week, may take a little longer, and that is completely fine. We move at the pace of the student, not the calendar.
Who is this course for?
- Children from about age 4 who are starting from zero.
- Children who learned some letters before but need a proper foundation.
- Adults and new Muslims who want to learn to read Arabic correctly from the very beginning.
What comes next
When the Qaida is complete, students move straight into Quran reading with tajweed, starting with the short surahs and Juz Amma. Students who wish to memorise can later join our online Hifz programme.
